San Diego Marriott Del Mar

A good example of Marriott quality.

Pros: Nice. well equipped room. Consistent quality so you know what to expect. Decent though small gym. Parking. Easy to get everywhere though quite a long way from everywhere, if that makes sense.

Cons: Quite a long way from anywhere of interest. Parking is expensive unless you join the rewards scheme (it's free so why not) at which point you may well be able to negotiate it being free.

Rude wait staff

Pros: the front staff where fantastic, the food was great and so was the spa

Cons: What really put me off was the one sever on early on in the evening. My partner was having a beer I hadn’t decided on a drink yet , when she came back we asked for dinner menus which she gave to us and left to serve others , she was quite busy so after 10 minutes I went to the bar to order two drinks … she stormed over and told me off telling me she was my server and i’ll get into trouble if I go to the bar! She was very rude and if I hadn’t ordered drinks i would have left

Exceptional across the board - if you're staying in Del Mar, look no further!

Pros: I had a long stay at the Marriott and I cannot say enough good things about this hotel and its staff. I was staying there on my own and the minute the staff realised that, they made me feel at home and no ask or request was too big or too small. The rooms at the Marriott are modern, spacious, clean and housekeeping do an excellent job every day. The location is also perfect and all the staff are super friendly and helpful. I want to give a special shout out to Serena on the front desk reception - she is the prime example of exceptional customer service. She is a 10/10 across the board - you won't find anymore more friendly or helpful. If I ever go back to Del Mar, I know that I will be staying at the Marriott. Thank you to all the staff there for making my stay so enjoyable and pleasant, I really appreciated it!

Cons: Nothing - everything was a 10/10.

Expensive hotel that I expect is priced for the surrounding business district

Pros: Good gym for a hotel. Very comfortable bed - sleep is obviously something the hotel knows the value of as there is a free spray provided to put on your pillow before bed to help promote a deep sleep.

Cons: Wifi being $9.95/night, although fortunately the lovely lady at reception comped this for me. Only single use cups in the room and no cutlery. There was also an environmental friendliness sign saying to leave your towel hanging if you don't want it changed - I did this but it was changed irrespective.

Excellent

Pros: Was clean and well maintained. Staff were very welcoming and went out of their way to make our stay very comfortable especially May at the front desk was very thoughtful.

Pros: Staffs are very nice people, the room is spacious and clean. Toothbrush and slippers are provided under request. The restaurant is located at 1st floor, it provides perfect local white wine and delicious food.

Cons: When the reception called a car for us, since it's hard to call a uber in busy hours, the final price was much higher than the price was told before. Final price to San Diego Airport is $150 which is unacceptable.

Pros: lobby of the hotel is big and they have outside swimming pool space of the room and comfort of bed room and bath cleanliness big parking lot (with extra fee) a quiet place

Cons: value of the money: it is expensive specially the location is far from the center and attractions parking with additional fee you have to pay a deposit which they said it will be back in your card after few days

Friendly staff

Pros: Amazingly quick check in, free parking, super helpful staff.

Cons: Not a fancy hotel, but a great one especially if you want to stay in this area.

Very enjoyable stay

Pros: The facilities were great, the location in the north of the city easy to find by car

Cons: Small problem. I’m not a fan of hotel windows that can’t open to let any fresh air in.

Nice hotel

Pros: Nice room. Comfortable bed. Good sushi at the restaurant.

Cons: Only 2 desert options on the menu, I would have preferred more choices. The restaurant was quite expensive - $60 for a bottle of wine.
