Orchard Hill

Pros: Location is perfect and the grounds were beautiful

We liked it despite some of the kinks.

Pros: The nicest hotel around this area, charming, clean, well situated. Warm welcome with appetizers and morning coffee delivered to room.

Cons: Stayed at lodge, bed was not as comfortable. Noisy heating unit in room, fluctuating hot water in shower, sink with slow drain.

Enjoyed Orchard Hill in Julian October 2025

Pros: Location, location, location! One can leave the car there and walk into town! Friendly front desk personnel, beautiful room, delicious breakfast (for purchase, not free). Lovely lobby.

Cons: We liked everything about it.

Pros: What I Loved: 📍 Prime Location: The hotel's location was absolutely perfect and extremely walkable to everything I wanted to see and do. 💖 Warm & Friendly Atmosphere: The hotel itself was beautiful, warm, and inviting. 🤝 Exceptional Staff: The entire staff was incredibly nice and accommodating. 🌅 Amazing Views: The views from the hotel were stunning. Areas for Consideration: While the overall experience was excellent, there are two areas that, if addressed, would elevate the stay from great to perfect: Breakfast Value: The $10 breakfast option is currently very basic, consisting only of toast and cereal. Adding additional options, especially some protein, would significantly improve the value and offerings. In-Room Technology: The TV was tiny, and the remote control was the most outdated I've seen in at least a decade. Upgrading to modern Smart TVs would be a huge bonus for guests.

Beautiful lodge

Pros: Lovely location and property! By far the nicest lodge in town, beautiful views, close walk to shops/cafes, amazing friendly staff who gave great recommendations and were kind to light the fireplace for us in the lounge area. Complementary happy hour was a nice surprise, we would definitely stay there again!

Cons: It would have been nice if the hotel offered breakfast (we understood they only did breakfast in the weekend) as this was hard to find, not many places were open in the morning, so your options aren't great. There was even a lovely breakfast area with a view, it would have been perfect if we could enjoy that.

Pros: The property was absolutely beautiful and so peaceful! I can’t wait to go back and enjoy the beautiful peaceful place.

A hillside retreat with incredible staff

Pros: A short walk to town, wrapped in pine tree perfection! Wildlife and bubbling brook…

Cons: My kingdom for room darkening shades- Not everyone on vacay wants to be up with the sun

From the moment we arrived, this picturesque hotel exceeded or expectations.

Pros: Exceptional staff: Becky and Rachael at the front desk.

Cons: Breakfast is only available on weekends

Upscale lodge close to town.

Pros: Quiet. Safe. Beautiful lawn. Comfortable bed. Quality bedding. Slept well! Robes. It was so nice to have the community fridge. It would have been nice to have a coffee maker in the room instead of going back-and-forth to the community room. I was in a lodge room. I imagine the cottages have their own kitchens. Midweek rate was great!

Cons: The gravel drive up needs maintenance. My tires were spinning out in the gravel and deep ruts. I saw another vehicle also having trouble. There were bits of trash and a meat wrapper on the floor by the bed table and headboard. Water takes very long to get warm. I was both frozen out and scalded in the shower.
